Citroen Basalt [Launch: 9th August 2024]
The Citroen Basalt’s production version mirrors its initial design, featuring matte plastic cladding, projector headlamps, and 17-inch alloy wheels. It has a contoured rear with 3D-effect halogen tail lamps and a dual-tone bumper. Color options include five monotone and two dual-tone choices. Inside, it boasts an upgraded dashboard with a new HVAC panel, digital readouts, a larger front armrest, and adjustable rear seat thigh support. It also includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 15W wireless charger.
Engine options are a 1.2 L NA Petrol with a 5-speed manual and a 1.2 L Turbo Petrol with a 6-speed manual or automatic. Features include automatic climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Safety features consist of 6 airbags, a rear parking camera, hill start assist, and traction control.
Pricing is expected between Rs. 11 lakh and Rs. 16 lakh. Citroen is initially expected to announce the starting price of the SUV with all variants pricing coming by the end of this month.
New-Gen Maruti Dzire [Expected Launch: September 2024]
The next-generation Maruti Dzire features a bold hexagonal grille, sleek LED DRLs, redesigned bumpers, and Y-shaped LED tail lamps. Inside, it offers a 9-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-tone dashboard, new climate control panel, fabric seats, USB ports, and a single-pane sunroof.
Engine options include a 1.2-liter petrol engine with 80.46 BHP and 111.7 NM torque, available with a 5-speed manual or automatic gearbox, and a future CNG variant. The new Dzire will have features such as wireless charging, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, a 6-speaker system, and safety features like ABS, ESC, six airbags, and a 360-degree camera.
Expected to be priced between Rs. 7 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh, it will compete with the Honda Amaze, Tata Tigor, and Hyundai Aura when it launches in the second half of 2024.
Hyundai Alcazar Facelift [Launch: September 2024]
The Hyundai Alcazar facelift features a bold design with H-shaped LED DRLs, quad-beam headlamps, a large grille with chrome slats, and new 8-spoke alloy wheels. The rear has vertically positioned LED tail-lamps and Level 2 ADAS components. Inside, it offers dual 10.25-inch displays, a new HVAC panel, wireless charging, and a panoramic sunroof. New upholstery options include dark brown, white, and black, with top trims potentially featuring ventilated second-row captain seats and a more comfortable third row.
Engine options include a 1.5 L Turbo Petrol, 1.5 L Diesel, and a new 1.5 L NA Petrol. The facelift adds Level 2 ADAS, dual-zone climate control, a powered tailgate, dashcam, rear sunshades, and potentially heated seats in top trims.
Hyundai will be debuting the facelift in September 2024, most likely in the first half of the month. It’s expected to start from Rs. 17 Lakhs with top trim priced at Rs. 22 Lakhs.
Nissan Magnite Facelift [Launch: December 2024]
The 2024 Nissan Magnite Facelift was spotted testing in Chennai, showing changes like new multi-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels, possible LED tail-lights with a light bar, and a shark fin antenna. Interior details are not fully revealed, but hints of a white dashboard suggest updates for lower or mid variants.
The engine options will likely remain the same: a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder petrol engine with a naturally aspirated variant producing 71.01 BHP and 96 NM of torque, and a turbocharged version delivering 99 BHP and 160 NM of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, AMT, or CVT.
New features expected include front ventilated seats, a sunroof, auto-dimming IRVM, an upgraded infotainment system, and a digital instrument cluster. The facelift is anticipated to launch towards the end of the year and will compete with models like the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV300 Facelift, and Renault Kiger.
Skoda’s New SUV [Launch: March 2025]
Skoda launched a naming contest for their new SUV, requiring names to start with ‘K’, end with ‘Q’, and be one or two syllables long. From over 130,000 entries, ten names were shortlisted: Kwiq, Kymaq, Kylaq, Kariq, Kyroq, Kosmiq, Kayaq, Kaiq, Kliq, and Karmiq. A jury, including Skoda executives, will select the final name. The ten shortlisted participants will visit Skoda’s headquarters in the Czech Republic, and one winner will receive the new SUV.
The new compact SUV, sharing its platform with the Kushaq and Slavia, will feature signature Skoda design elements like a sleek grille, LED DRLs, split headlights, sharp LED taillights, a thick bumper, roof rails, and alloy wheels. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo petrol engine with 114 BHP and 178 NM of torque, with a choice of a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Skoda is increasing its production capacity by 30%, aiming to sell 100,000 units annually. Expected pricing ranges from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom).
