Citroen yesterday launched the Basalt Coupe SUV from Rs. 7.99 Lakh undercutting all the Compact SUVs in the segment and few sub 4-meter SUVs as well.

After launching the Basalt SUV with an very aggressive price, Citroen want’s to ensure this gives them the advantage they’re desperately looking for and boost their sales somehow. But everyone wants to know what is the top variant pricing?

Citroen Basalt Top Variant Price Leaks: So What is it?

An Compact SUV with Rs. 7.99 Lakh Price is still hard to believe and for context, Maruti Brezza, a Sub Compact (sub 4meter) SUV starts from Rs. 8.34 Lakh, while the Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon both are priced the same as the Basalt Coupe SUV. Although the price is introductory, this could work in the favour of Citroen as it will give them much needed big sales that they are looking for.

Variants & Engine Options:

• You & Plus: Equipped with a 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol engine delivering 81 BHP and 115 Nm torque, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
• Plus & Max: Feature a 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 109 BHP and 190-205 Nm torque, available with both 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Notably, the Max variant doesn’t offer the non-turbo engine.

The top variant of Citroen’s 1.2P Turbo AT Max (Automatic), as listed on the Citroen India website, is priced at an introductory Rs. 13.57 Lakh (ex-showroom). This aggressive pricing strategy allows Citroen to undercut not only its segment competitors but also a few sub-4 meter SUVs like the Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV3OO, and Maruti Jimny.

One of Citroen’s key advantages at this price point is the long wheelbase, which translates to a spacious cabin. However, a notable drawback is the lack of features across its lineup. Considering the Basalt SUV, Citroen could have been more generous with the feature set. Here are some key features that are missing:
